Rick Rubin put out a call for creatives to contribute content to help publicize his Tetragrammaton podcast. The task: use or repurpose material from tetragrammaton.com to create one or more Instagram reels—within a 72-hour window. At stake was a creative internship with the man himself.

The esoteric nature of his brand immediately sparked ideas with a ritualistic bent. The quick turnaround left no time for hesitation. The loudest inner voice simply said: get to the snow.

It was clear he was looking for a video editor—which, by trade, I’m not. So I went rogue on the brief.

Also, I thought it’d be funny if Rick saw my bum—and given the nature of the submission process, I’m fairly certain he did.
